Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to take financial ownership of multiple growing manufacturing business units. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to move beyond a traditional month-end-focused role and gain greater exposure to Operations, process improvement, and business transformation. The organisation is currently experiencing significant change and growth, creating an opportunity for the successful candidate to help build and improve processes while partnering closely with manufacturing and operational teams. THE ROLE The Senior Accountant will combine full-cycle accounting and financial reporting with cost accounting, operational business partnering, and process improvement. Acting as the financial steward for assigned business units, you will lead month-end activities, analyse manufacturing costs and variances, maintain strong financial controls, and work directly with Operations and Supply Chain to identify and resolve financial and operational issues. This role requires someone who is hands-on, proactive, and comfortable challenging existing processes rather than simply reporting the numbers. RESPONSIBILITIES Lead month-end close, financial reporting, reconciliations, accruals, and journal entries Manage manufacturing and cost accounting across inventory, raw materials, labour, overhead, and product costs Analyse material, purchase price, labour, inventory, margin, and manufacturing variances Investigate the underlying causes of variances and partner with Operations to resolve issues Review product costing, Bills of Materials (BOMs), inventory valuation, and manufacturing cost flows Partner closely with Operations, Supply Chain, and other non-finance stakeholders Identify financial and operational risks and recommend practical solutions Establish and improve accounting processes, controls, and workflows Support internal and external audits and ensure compliance with IFRS/GAAP Support business transformation and process improvement initiatives across multiple locations Provide accounting guidance and financial insight to support operational decision-making REQUIREMENTS 5+ years of progressive full-cycle accounting experience Previous accounting experience within a manufacturing environment is required Strong cost accounting knowledge, including inventory, BOMs, raw materials, labour, overhead, and product costing Hands-on experience investigating material/purchase price and labour variances Canadian CPA designation preferred; candidates actively pursuing their CPA may be considered Strong understanding of IFRS/GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls Experience partnering directly with Operations, Supply Chain, or Production teams Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills Proactive and independent approach with confidence challenging existing processes and influencing stakeholders Strong Excel and ERP experience Multi-site manufacturing and process improvement experience considered an asset Ability to travel periodically within North America Canadian Citizenship or Permanent Residency required due to regulatory requirements associated with the position COMPENSATION & BENEFITS Base salary: $95,000–$115,000 Performance-based bonus 3 weeks vacation Extended health and dental benefits 2% RSP matching Hybrid working environment Strong career progression potential Exposure to business transformation and multi-site manufacturing operations Permanent, full-time opportunity APPLY NOW If you have strong manufacturing and cost accounting experience and are looking for a Senior Accountant opportunity with greater ownership, operational exposure, and long-term growth potential, please apply directly or reach out to STRIVE Recruitment for a confidential discussion.
