Hourly Payroll Analyst
Key Elements:
- Process weekly payroll accurately and on time, ensuring compliance with company policies, legislation, and collective agreements.
- Perform audit procedures to ensure payroll accuracy.
- Maintain and update payroll system records, including employee information and rate changes.
- Collaborate with payroll providers and ensure accurate data transfer to other systems.
- Respond to employee payroll inquiries and resolve issues.
- Support payroll system updates and testing as needed.
- Identify and implement process improvements.
- Prepare numerous reports, support Total Rewards projects, and collaborate with HR to develop and maintain key metric tracking protocols.
- Serve as back up for other payroll processing and inquiries as required
- Coordinate with Finance for audit requests and provide required payroll information.
- Maintain strong working relationships with both unionized and nonunionized employees.
Required Qualifications:
- University Degree or Diploma in Business, Payroll, Accounting or HR discipline
- 2 to 3 years payroll experience
- Advanced MS Office skills, especially MS Excel (complex formulas, pivot tables)
- Ability to deal with confidential information with a high degree of diplomacy
- Highly organized with meticulous attention to detail
- Strong team player capable of performing in a fast paced deadline driven environment
- Proven analytical and problem solving skills
- Excellent communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Working towards or successful completion of the Payroll Compliance Professional (PCP) designation
- Certified Human Resource Professional designation (CHRP)
- Experience with an automated timekeeping system
- Experience with Dayforce payroll software
