What the job involves

  • To support Docker’s rapid growth, we’re looking for a collaborative Senior Accountant to join our team!
  • In this position, you will play a critical role in strengthening key areas of Docker's accounting operations, including the procure-to-pay process, monthly and quarterly close, and financial reporting activities
  • The ideal candidate brings strong operational accounting experience, technical accounting capabilities, and a passion for process improvement within a fast-paced SaaS environment
  • Assist with the monthly and quarterly close process, including preparation of financial statements, journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis
  • Collaborate with Finance, IT, Tax, Legal, HR, Payroll and other cross-functional teams to gather data, improve processes, and support business needs
  • Identify and implement opportunities to leverage AI and automation tools to streamline accounting processes, improve efficiency in the close cycle, and enhance data accuracy across accounting workflows
  • Assist in improving financial reporting processes and disclosures, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements
  • Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance with US GAAP and other accounting regulations
  • Collaborate with external auditors to provide support for the annual audit and reviews
  • Support the Accounting Manager with special projects and ad hoc analysis as needed
  • First 30 days:
  • Familiarize yourself with the current procure-to-pay, general ledger, and month-end close processes and systems at Docker, including NetSuite, Zip, Navan, and Numeric
  • Establish relationships with cross-functional stakeholders including Finance, IT, Tax, Legal, HR, and Payroll teams to understand how data flows across the organization
  • Review existing accounting policies, procedures, and position memos to ensure a thorough understanding of current US GAAP compliance standards and internal controls
  • Assist with monthly close tasks, including preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis
  • First 90 days:
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify pain points in the close cycle and propose targeted improvements for efficiency, accuracy, and automation
  • Begin exploring AI and automation tools that can streamline recurring accounting workflows, reduce manual effort, and improve data accuracy across the general ledger
  • Support audit requests and assist with documentation preparation for external auditors
  • Contribute to financial reporting improvements, ensuring disclosures are accurate, transparent, and compliant with internal policies and regulatory requirements
  • One-year outlook:
  • Own the end-to-end documentation of corporate accounting processes, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant reporting across the general ledger and financial statements
  • Lead or co-lead automation and process improvement initiatives that measurably shorten the monthly and quarterly close cycle
  • Serve as a go-to subject matter expert for general ledger, procure-to-pay, and US GAAP compliance questions across the company
  • Build and refine accounting policies and procedures to keep pace with Docker's rapid growth and evolving business needs
  • Mentor junior and intermediate accounting staff, fostering growth in both technical accounting skills and cross-functional business acumen
