Role: Accounting Manager Location: Burnaby, BC Salary Range: $105,000 - $115,000 The Role: As a member of the Leadership team, the Accounting Manager will oversee full-cycle accounting, financial reporting, and U.S. entity operations while supporting month-end/year-end close, compliance, and internal controls. This role will also contribute to budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, tax and audit activities, and financial analysis to support business decision-making. Working closely with internal leaders and external advisors, the Accounting Manager will help strengthen processes, improve efficiencies, and support the continued growth of the finance function. YOUR core responsibilities: Financial Operations & Full-Cycle Accounting Manage the general ledger and oversee full-cycle accounting, and act as the financial lead for the US operations. Lead preparation of month-end and year-end closing procedures, including all balance sheet reconciliations. Ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with ASPE, IFRS and US GAAP. Prepare and present draft financial statements and ad-hoc reports for review by senior management. Collaborate with the Controller on complex accounting issues, including transfer pricing and intercompany transactions. Take ownership of key accounting processes and drive improvements in efficiency and internal controls. Participate in strategic financial planning and analysis, including forecasting and scenario modeling. Cross-Functional Collaboration Work closely with department managers and senior leadership to support business objectives. Participate in cross-functional projects, such as system upgrades, process redesigns, and new business initiatives. Liaise with external auditors and advisors, supporting audit and compliance activities. Treasury, Taxation & Legal Monitor cash flow and liquidity, providing daily cash position, forecasting & working capital reports Oversee sales tax, income tax, and regulatory compliance for the US entity. Develop expertise in US GAAP, tax regulations, and legal requirements. Budgeting & Financial Planning Prepare annual operating budgets and long-term financial models. Collect departmental submissions & build forecasts. Perform budget variances and prepare scenario analyses. Mentor junior staff and support their professional development. Reporting, Internal Controls & Optimization Support financial reporting by preparing variance analyses, balance sheet reconciliations, and draft management reports. Prepare margin analyses, customer analysis, forecast & sensitivity models Identify inefficiencies in existing workflows and champion the automation of accounting processes. Document and strengthen internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure data integrity. Assist with external audits and tax filings for both Canadian and U.S. entities. What YOU BRING to Watson Gloves: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business. CPA designation; commitment to ongoing professional development. Full-cycle accounting experience. 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership or supervisory responsibilities, with a proven record of managing 3+ direct reports. Excellent communication, leadership, and people skills. Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and reconciliation skills. Demonstrated experience in financial reporting, budgeting, and strategic planning. Strong understanding of US GAAP, ASPE and IFRS, and US tax regulations is an asset. Demonstrated understanding of payroll processes, compliance, and best practices to support future oversight of payroll operations. Solid grasp of cost accounting principles, including inventory costing and product pricing strategies, to enable effective collaboration with cost accounting functions and prepare for future supervisory responsibilities. Proven ability to manage projects, drive change, and mentor others. Experience working with US companies and multi-entity environments is an asset but not required. Advanced proficiency in ERP systems (EPICOR preferred) and Excel. High integrity, analytical thinking, and commitment to continuous improvement.
