The Senior Accountant is crucial to our operations, supporting monthly financials and A/P Management within the Finance team. Their work provides company leadership with the precise financial data necessary for informed decision-making. They play a key role in helping the Finance team achieve timely month-end closings, enabling the Executive Leadership team to consistently monitor the company's financial performance. Their diverse responsibilities are essential for maintaining financial integrity and driving the company's growth. This is a full-time maternity leave contract position based out of our Head Office in Richmond, BC, with the contract running through January 2028. Monthly Financial Responsibilities Prepare and analyze financial statements for the company, legal entities, holding company, and SG&A units in collaboration with the Operations Controller and Junior Accountant. Assist with monthly consolidated financial statements, including general ledger reconciliations and month-end/year-end adjusting entries. Manage intercompany GL balances and ensure accounts are accurately reconciled. Lead quarterly reviews with SG&A managers to analyze actual vs. budget performance. Prepare and/or review monthly tax filings and instalment payments, including GST, PST, and Texas Sales Tax. Ensure compliance with applicable local, provincial, and federal reporting requirements. Prepare year-end working papers and schedules to support external audits, and review annual financial statements and corporate tax returns. Oversee fixed asset schedules and ensure records are accurate and up to date. Prepare and maintain cash flow forecasts to support financial planning and decision-making. Identify opportunities to streamline and improve month-end processes and reporting. Maintain and strengthen internal controls, ensuring compliance and recommending improvements where needed. A/P Management Oversee A/P Function and partner with the A/P team to: Review Bi-weekly payment run (checks, ACHs, EFTs). Review employee expense reports, both manual and through the Expensify system. Oversee employee corporate credit card reconciliations and payments. Handle AP reconciliations, accruals, and assist with general AP-related tasks. Provide backup support for AP team members. Lead AP process improvements to enhance efficiency. General Team Support Serve as backup for monthly bank reconciliations. Assist in the preparation/reporting of KPI’s. Create and modify existing SOPs to help ensure standardization within the department. Assist in the preparation of annual budgets. Prepare and review bi-weekly commission reports. Please note: this is not an exhaustive list and other responsibilities may be added to the role as needed. Experience: 3+ years of relevant Canadian experience in a similar role (hands-on experience with the key responsibilities identified above).Experience with consolidated financials would be an asset. Experience with foreign transactions would be an asset. Education: Diploma/Degree in Accounting. Credential: CPA Certified, or near completion in the CPA program Computer Skills: Proficient with the use of Microsoft Office programs, particularly Excel (ability to do VLookups, Pivot Tables, Formulas, Conditional Formatting). Organization Skills: drive for precision and quality in everything you do. An ability to keep on task despite competing priorities. Continuous Improvement: Adopt a "We Can Do This Better" ideology, always looking for ways to improve processes and being confident enough to share your ideas and drive action. Effective Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication, which includes the ability to listen, comprehend, collaborate, and share ideas.
