At Skyfold, we strive for continuous improvement and to inspire collaboration at all levels POSITION SUMMARY The Payroll Specialist reports to the Finance and accounting lead of Skyfold and is responsible for performing all payroll functions, assisting employees with questions regarding benefits and support the Human Resources Business Partner with payroll related matters. The person also secondarily participates accounting functions such as general account analysis. RESPONSIBILITIES Maintains payroll information by collecting, calculating, and entering data; Updates payroll records by entering changes in exemptions, insurance coverage, savings deductions, and job title and department transfers; Prepares reports by compiling summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and non-taxable wages; Determines payroll liabilities by calculating employee federal and provincial income and social security taxes and employer’s social security, unemployment, and workers compensation payments; Calculate monthly, quarterly, or year-end calculations of bonuses and other salary-based compensation; Resolves payroll discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information; Provides payroll information by answering questions and requests; Maintains payroll operations by following policies and procedures, reporting needed changes; Maintains employee confidence and protects payroll operations by keeping information confidential; Works in close collaboration with the HR partner of Skyfold on employee/HR related matters; Responsible for registering employees to the group Insurance plan as well as Pension Plan; Perform general accounting tasks including accounts analysis and budget reviews with head of functions. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE DEC, DEP or Certificate in accounting; Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role; Knowledge of Payroll legislation and regulations (member of Canadian Payroll Association is an asset; Experience gained in publicly traded companies with international corporate culture. SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS Strong organizational and time management skills; High degree of accuracy and attention to detail; Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal; Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel; Knowledge of payroll processing software (knowledge of ADP is an asset) Ability to work independently and as part of a team; Knowledge of finances including accounting principles and practices; Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication ability in both English & French. *Advanced proficiency levels in both languages is required as this role will be working with customers from all around the world (reporting to head office, replying to customers and suppliers outside of QC).
