Our portfolio is comprised of multi-family and Commercial assets throughout Ontario and BC. The Role SiteLine is seeking a permanent, full-time Senior Property Accountant who will report to the Director, Finance Commercial. The Property Accountant is responsible for the accurate and timely accounting and financial reporting of a portfolio of properties. This role manages day-to-day property accounting activities, bank and balance sheet reconciliations, general ledger maintenance, month-end and year-end close, budgeting support, and preparation of property-level financial statements. Responsibilities · Prepare monthly/quarterly property-level financial statements including but not limited to rent roll, variance analysis, and operating cost and tax recoveries. · Prepare and post monthly journal entries, including accruals, prepaid expenses, depreciation, amortization, and allocations. · Review and reconcile general ledger accounts, tenant accounts, and other balance sheet accounts. · Preparation of monthly bank reconciliations. · Preparation of monthly/quarterly property tax, sales tax, GST/HST, and other regulatory reporting, as applicable. · Timely and accurate preparation of the monthly and quarterly reporting packages. · Preparation of the property budgets and forecasts of the commercial portfolio. · Preparation of annual year-end operating cost and tax adjustments for tenants. · Preparation of property cashflows. Monitor cash receipts and disbursements. · Work closely with property managers to resolve accounting issues and ensure financial information is complete and accurate. · Assist with year-end working papers and provide information to external accountants and auditors. · Respond to auditor inquiries as required. · Assist with financial system enhancements, improvements and implementations · Perform other accounting and administrative duties as required. Experience · Minimum of 2-3 years of relevant work experience in property accounting, commercial real-estate experience is an asset · University degree in business or related field · In progress of pursuing a CPA designation · Strong understanding of accounting concepts · Experience with full-cycle accounting and month-end close. · Proficient in Microsoft excel including formulas, reconciliations, and financial analysis. · Experience with Yardi accounting software or similar property management accounting software. Candidate Qualities · Strong written and verbal communication skills · Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. · Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. · Both a self-starter and team player, with strong ability to get the work done · Innovative thinker with ability to understand and enhance process and develop new ideas · Excellent time management and organizational and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks and priorities · High level of integrity, confidentiality, and professional judgment.
