Project Accounting Controller Points Athabasca Contracting LP (PACLP) is a progressive, fast-growing Aboriginal-owned general contracting company with an impressive portfolio of high-quality construction projects in industrial construction, skilled workforce supply, commercial construction, road building and maintenance, and concrete products and sales. We are looking for an experienced Project Accounting Controller to join our team. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of the Director of Finance and will oversee the work of the Project and Contract Administrators. This position is based out of our Head Office in Saskatoon. Your experience will be integral in assisting in, alongside the Director of Finance, the enhancement of project accounting template and reporting tools such as percentage-of-completion, works-in-process, and reforecasting templates, and implementation of the project accounting module in our information system. Working in partnership with both operations and finance teams, the successful candidate will be responsible for the reporting of construction projects through monthly, quarterly and annual revenue recognition, cost reporting, margin analysis, forecasting, contract asset and contract liability account reconciliations and invoice activities. The ideal candidate will be highly analytical and able to challenge and validate project assumptions to ensure appropriate re-forecasting of projects and estimate-to-complete, and to assist management and project teams in understanding the financial impact of project risks. Assistance with additional monthly, quarterly, and annual financial and operating reporting responsibilities will also be required. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: - Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual project financial reporting - Maintain and update project revenue recognition and Work-In-Process (WIP) reconciliation schedules - Prepare and maintain revenue recognition calculations in accordance with company policies and applicable accounting standards. Reconcile project revenue, costs, works-in-process, deferred revenue and related project accounts. - Project set up in information and EPM systems, adjusting for change orders and reforecasting - Work closely with the Project Managers to ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and annual project cost reforecasting - Prepare and issue customer invoices for assigned projects portfolios. Ensure invoices are supported by contractual terms, project progress and approved billing documentation - Provide financial guidance and support to project teams; participate in project review meetings and provide financial insight into project performance - Understand internal control systems to ensure appropriate review procedures are performed and evidence maintained to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial reporting - Assist in monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close procedures including account reconciliations and analysis outside of project accounting process may also be required - Assist in year-end external audit process Qualifications The successful candidate will have prior experience working with project in a project accounting role in a construction or engineering project-based organization. A bachelor of commerce in accounting and CPA designation would be considered an asset, but not a requirement for a candidate with the right experience. Experience with Acumatica and Procore systems would be considered an asset.
