Northern Lights Public Schools is located in the heart of Alberta’s Lakeland region, which offers residents a multitude of outdoor recreation opportunities and stunning displays of the Aurora Borealis. The division is focused on ensuring all students have the opportunity to succeed and has designated numeracy and student mental health and wellness as division priorities. Northern Lights Public Schools invites applications for the following position: S2627-51 Payroll Generalist This is a full-time (1.0 fte) position commencing as soon as possible. We are seeking a Payroll Generalist team member who has specialized in Payroll and Benefits processes. The assignment involves assisting and supporting the Payroll department with the possibility of some Human Resources duties. Depending on the location of the successful candidate, this position can be based out of the Bonnyville or Lac La Biche office. Interested applicants must have strong interpersonal skills and be able to work independently. The Successful Candidate Duties May Include File and respond to telephone, email, and in person inquiries from the public and staff Assist staff with absence entry and weekly authorization Prepare, review, and reconcile payroll in a timely and accurate manner Update Payroll profiles for new hires, terminations, leaves, wage adjustments and any other changes for a high volume payroll Act as a first point of contact for employees regarding payroll and benefits issues, providing information and resolving discrepancies Process benefit documents such as insurance, pension plans, and leaves Provide general administrative assistance to the Payroll, Benefits and Human Resources Department as needed Completing various internal and external reports and participating in surveys Process and issue ROEs for all terminations and leaves, ensuring compliance with Service Canada guidelines Preference Will Be Given To Applicants Who Have Business Administration, Human Resources or Payroll Diploma or Degree Training and/or Experience in the field of Human Resource or Payroll Administration or combination of Basic knowledge of current Alberta Labour and Employment Legislation Excellent written and oral communication skills Strong attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy Familiarity with collective and union agreements Demonstrated high standards of ethics and confidentiality to handle sensitive information Excellent time management and organizational skills Flexible and adaptable to changing needs of the organization, while handling stressful situations with professionalism Excellent computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Google Applications Familiarity with Atrieve ERP or a similar database How To Apply Interested applicants are required to create and complete all sections of their portfolio through the 'Apply On-Line' link on our website, in the employment section.
