General Description The Senior Accountant will report to the VP, Accounting and will support our diversified real-estate portfolio, including commercial property management and residential development / construction projects. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical accounting expertise, hands-on experience in real estate and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Main Responsibilities Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for multiple entities and projects Prepare annual working paper files for both commercial property management & residential development/construction Manage full-cycle accounting, including general ledger, journal entries, and account reconciliations Assist with year-end audit and external reporting requirements Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes, including vendor payments and tenant billing Prepare and review bank reconciliations, loan reconciliations, and intercompany transactions Track and report on development and construction costs, including budget vs. actual analysis Prepare and review GST/HST filings Assist with corporate tax working papers Maintain and improve internal controls and accounting procedures Other duties/projects as assigned from time to time. Required Skills And Qualifications CPA designation or working toward CPA (required for Senior level; in progress for Intermediate) 8+ years of accounting experience (real estate industry experience strongly preferred) Experience with commercial property management and/or residential development/construction accounting Strong understanding of job costing, percentage-of-completion, and project accounting Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Caseware, QuickBooks, Newstar, Yardi, or similar ERP systems) Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, financial modeling a plus) Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills Ability to manage multiple entities and deadlines simultaneously Excellent verbal and written communication skills and possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Solid analytical and mathematical skills. Meticulous attention to detail and a high level of accuracy. Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
