The Finance & Accounting Manager will lead core accounting functions, including payroll, A/R, A/P, and monthly close processes. They will also maintain internal controls and coordinate with external accountants for audit activities.
Position Overview An Ottawa-based professional services organization is seeking a Finance & Accounting Manager to lead core accounting functions and support broader financial operations. This hybrid role offers a balance of remote and in-office work. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting expertise, attention to detail, and clear communication skills. A CPA designation is preferred. Key Responsibilities Oversee daily accounting operations, including payroll, accounts receivable, and accounts payable Perform and review bank and balance sheet reconciliations Manage monthly close processes, including accruals and supporting schedules Maintain and enhance internal controls and accounting procedures Support audit activities and coordinate with external accountants Leverage accounting and CRM systems to improve financial workflows Qualifications & Experience CPA designation preferred. Accounting diploma or equivalent required 5–7 years of progressive experience in finance and accounting Strong hands-on experience with payroll, A/R, A/P, reconciliations, and month-end close Proficiency with QuickBooks required Experience with Bullhorn CRM is an asset Background in staffing or recruitment industry is an advantage Prior experience supervising or mentoring team members preferred Skills & Competencies Strong verbal and written communication skills Analytical mindset with effective problem-solving ability High attention to detail and accuracy Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines Proactive approach with a focus on continuous improvement Work Environment Hybrid model combining remote and in-office work in Ottawa Collaborative, growth-focused team environment Compensation & Benefits Competitive salary aligned with experience Comprehensive benefits package Ongoing professional development opportunities , Chris Halkai
