The successful candidate will handle daily bookkeeping, investment accounting, and financial statement preparation across a diversified portfolio that includes fixed income, public equities, private company investments, private equity and other alternative funds. This role is critical in ensuring accurate books and records, timely financial statements, and clean audit and tax deliverables. Key Responsibilities Investment Accounting & Bookkeeping * Maintain and reconcile the general ledger and investment sub‑ledgers for all investment vehicles and accounts. * Record and monitor investment transactions including: * Purchases, sales, and transfers of public equities and fixed income securities * Capital calls, distributions, and allocations for venture capital, private equity, and other alternative funds * Direct investments in private companies * Accurately record income, interest, dividends, realized/unrealized gains and losses, and fees. * Reconcile custodian/broker statements, bank accounts, and fund statements; resolve discrepancies on a timely basis. * Maintain proper investment details and keep book and record accurately and timely. Financial Reporting & Audit/Tax Support * Prepare complete financial statement book sets (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow, schedules) for annual tax preparation * Coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors, providing requested workpapers, reconciliations, and explanations. * Ensure accounting policies and treatments are consistent with applicable standards and family office requirements. Controls, Systems & Process Improvement * Maintain and enhance internal controls over investment accounting and reporting. * Support selection, implementation, and optimization of accounting and portfolio management systems. * Develop and document standard operating procedures for recurring accounting and reporting tasks. * Assist with cash management and liquidity forecasting as needed. Qualifications & Experience * Professional accounting designation (e.g., CPA, CA, CGA, CMA) or equivalent; in progress considered with strong experience. * 3–5+ years of experience in investment accounting, fund accounting, or family office / private wealth accounting. * Demonstrated experience accounting for a range of investment types (fixed income / public equities / private company / PE fund etc.) * Strong understanding of investment income, fair value, cost basis, and performance measurement concepts. * High proficiency in Excel and accounting software; experience with portfolio/accounting systems is an asset. * Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple deadlines (month‑end, audit, tax). * High level of discretion and integrity in handling confidential financial and family information. * Strong communication skills; able to explain accounting and investment concepts clearly to non‑accountants. * Experience in a family office, private wealth, fund, or audit firm serving investment clients.
