We are recruiting for a growing Ottawa-based real estate development and construction management firm that specializes in high-quality residential and commercial projects! As the full-time, permanent Senior Accountant, you will take ownership of the organization's day-to-day accounting operations and financial reporting, ensuring accurate and well-managed financial processes across the business. You will work closely with project managers and executive leadership to maintain strong internal controls, improve procedures and provide financial insights that support informed decision-making and sustainable growth. The ideal candidate will have strong business acumen, sound knowledge of accounting principles and cost accounting, and a proactive, solutions-focused approach. This role is best suited to a hands-on individual who enjoys working in a mid-size business and who values having a voice at the round table discussions. Reporting directly to the CFO, you will: Lead and manage the month-end close process to ensure timely, accurate financial reporting Prepare monthly financial statements, reconciliations, and variance analysis Produce the monthly reporting package, including: WIP schedule, job profitability, GL reconciliation Cash flow management including rolling forecasts Maintain accurate and up-to-date general ledgers for assigned properties, including reconciling bank accounts, tenant ledgers, and other financial records Ensure compliance with accounting principles and company policies Process the rent roll efficiently each month, recording transactions accurately in tenant ledgers, and work with Property Managers to capture monthly tenant changes while investigating and resolving account discrepancies Process invoices, payments, and expense allocations, and manage account reconciliations Assist in preparing annual budgets and financial forecasts, monitor property expenses, and provide financial analysis to support operational decision-making Prepare and file property tax, sales tax, and other regulatory reports, and support external audits and financial reviews This is a hands-on role with a wide scope of responsibility which is well suited to somebody who enjoys managing the finance function from end-to-end and partnering with operational leaders.
