This role serves as a key resource for payroll-related inquiries and works closely with both corporate and field employees to ensure payroll processes are efficient, compliant, and employee focused. The successful candidate is a self-starter who takes ownership of the payroll function, is comfortable working independently, and exercised strong judgment to identify and resolve issues proactively. Over time, this individual will become a key subject matter expert and trusted resource for payroll within the organization. In This Role, You Will: Payroll Administration Manage the full biweekly payroll cycle for hourly, salaried, and commission-based employees, from timesheet auditing through payroll processing and post-payroll reporting. Review payroll inputs for accuracy and completeness, including hourly and salaried earnings, overtime, vacation, statutory holidays, commissions, deductions, employee status changes and other earnings and adjustments. Process new hires, terminations, leaves of absence, compensation changes, garnishments and other payroll transactions. Respond to payroll inquiries and resolve discrepancies in a timely and professional, and confidential manner. Prepare and reconcile payroll, including benefits, deductions, RRSP contributions, expenses, and payroll-related accounts. Ensure accurate and timely payroll remittances, including statutory deductions and other payroll-related payments. Coordinate year-end payroll activities, including payroll reconciliations, T4 preparation, and other statutory reporting requirements. Maintain payroll and employee data within the HRIS and payroll systems, ensuring information is accurate and consistent. Monitor changes to payroll legislation, employment standards, taxable benefits, and regulatory requirements ensuring ongoing compliance. Support HRIS initiatives, system testing, reporting, troubleshooting, and data validation as required. HR Administration Administer employee benefits, including enrollments, changes, terminations, and ongoing reconciliations. Coordinate employee onboarding and offboarding activities, ensuring all required documentation is completed accurately and on time. Maintain accurate and confidential employee records in accordance with company policies and applicable legislation. Assist with HR reporting, employee data management, and record retention processes. Support employee communications related to payroll, benefits, and HR programs. Provide general HR administrative support and participate in HR projects and initiatives as required. Qualifications & Experience Minimum 3 years of progressive payroll experience with demonstrated responsibility for full-cycle payroll administration. Experience working with ADP Workforce Now or a comparable payroll and HRIS platform. Strong working knowledge of Ontario and Quebec payroll legislation, employment standards, payroll taxation, and compliance requirements. Experience with payroll reconciliations, year-end processing, T4 preparation, and government remittances. Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation, or active pursuit of the designation, is considered an asset. Key Competencies Strong attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy. Excellent analytical, problem solving, and organizational skills. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the Microsoft Office Suite Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet tight deadlines, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to build positive working relationships with employees at all levels of the organization, including both office and field staff. Demonstrated ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and take ownership of responsibilities with minimal supervision. Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with professionalism and discretion. Commitment to providing exceptional internal customer service.
