About Us Isaac Achal Professional Corporation is a growing public accounting firm providing accounting, tax, advisory, bookkeeping, and assurance services to businesses and individuals. We are seeking an experienced Public Practice Manager to oversee staff, workflow management, client service delivery, and operational excellence across the firm. This role is ideal for a CPA or experienced public practice professional who enjoys leading teams, improving processes, and ensuring client engagements are completed efficiently and on time. Position Overview The Public Practice Manager is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the firm, overseeing staff workloads, ensuring deadlines are met, maintaining quality standards, and supporting the professional development of team members. This position serves as a key link between firm leadership and the accounting team to ensure exceptional client service and operational efficiency. Key ResponsibilitiesTeam Leadership & Staff Management Manage and mentor accountants, bookkeepers, and administrative staff. Monitor staff utilization, workload distribution, and productivity. Conduct performance reviews and provide ongoing coaching. Support recruitment, onboarding, and staff development initiatives. Foster a collaborative and positive workplace culture. Workflow & Project Management Oversee engagement scheduling and workflow management. Ensure completion of year-end engagements, tax returns, compilations, and bookkeeping assignments. Monitor deadlines and proactively address bottlenecks. Coordinate resources during peak periods, including tax season. Improve workflow efficiency and internal processes. Client Management Serve as a primary point of contact for assigned clients. Maintain strong client relationships and service standards. Review client concerns and escalate issues where appropriate. Assist partners in managing client portfolios. Quality Control & Compliance Ensure compliance with CPA professional standards and firm policies. Review work for accuracy and completeness. Maintain documentation standards and quality assurance procedures. Support implementation of best practices and process improvements. Qualifications Required CPA designation or equivalent experience. 5+ years of public practice accounting experience. Strong knowledge of Canadian accounting and tax principles. Experience supervising and mentoring staff. Excellent organizational and project management skills. Strong communication and client relationship abilities. Preferred Experience with CaseWare, TaxCycle, QuickBooks Online, Xero, iFirm and Microsoft. Experience managing multiple client engagements simultaneously. Previous management or team leadership experience in a CPA firm. What Success Looks Like The successful candidate will: Ensure client work is completed accurately and on time.
