Accounting & Payroll Manager Calgary, AB | Hybrid (3 days in office, 2 days remote) $115,000 - $130,000 base salary Insight Global is partnering with one of Canada's leading diagnostic imaging organizations to hire an Accounting & Payroll Manager. Reporting to the Controller, this individual will lead a team across accounting and payroll while owning the month-end close process, financial reporting, reconciliations, payroll oversight, physician and contractor payment reviews, and process improvement initiatives. This role is well suited for a CPA-designated leader who combines strong technical accounting expertise with exceptional people leadership, communication skills, and emotional intelligence. The client is looking for someone who can effectively coach and develop employees, build cross-functional relationships, and drive improvements while ensuring alignment and collaboration across the organization. Key Responsibilities: Lead and develop a team of accounting and payroll professionals Own month-end close, financial statement preparation, journal entry review, and reconciliations Review EFTs, wire payments, cheques, payroll uploads, and physician/contractor payments for accuracy Support audit preparation and year-end activities Improve reporting processes and help reduce month-end close timelines Partner with leadership to provide financial insights and ensure strong internal controls Balance team workloads, mentor staff, and support employee development Qualifications: CPA designation 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including full-cycle accounting and month-end ownership 3+ years of people leadership experience Strong financial reporting, reconciliations, and analysis experience Payroll knowledge and exposure, ideally within a larger or more complex payroll environment Advanced Excel skills ERP experience (any modern ERP system) Proven ability to coach, mentor, and develop team members Strong communication skills and emotional intelligence Ability to manage confidential financial and payroll information with discretion Nice to Have: Sage Intacct experience Ceridian Dayforce experience Experience supporting payroll populations of 500+ employees Healthcare, diagnostics, or multi-location organization experience Experience with physician, contractor, or partner payment structures Budgeting, forecasting, audit, or system implementation experience What Success Looks Like: The ideal candidate is a collaborative leader who takes time to understand the business before implementing changes, brings people along through process improvements, communicates effectively across departments, and balances accounting best practices with practical business needs. Strong leadership, relationship-building, and change management skills will be just as important as technical accounting expertise.
