Our mid-size accounting firm client in Toronto is looking to add a Sr Staff Accountant to their team. This is a full-time permanent role with benefits and more. Our client is a reputable mid-size firm with great growth opportunities and support. Responsibilities: Prepare and review Notice to Reader (NTR)/Compilation engagements for a portfolio of small to medium sized owner managed businesses across a variety of industries, with a primary focus on ASPE based financial statements. Manage full cycle accounting and year end engagements including preparing working papers, account reconciliations, adjusting journal entries, financial statements, and corporate tax support schedules. Work closely with clients to provide bookkeeping, month end, and financial reporting support, while responding to day to day accounting and operational inquiries in a timely manner. Assist with the preparation of corporate, partnership, and personal tax returns, ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards, tax regulations, and firm policies. Support limited assurance and audit engagements as needed; however, the role is primarily focused on compilation engagements and client advisory support rather than audit heavy work. Build and maintain strong client relationships by acting as a trusted advisor to business owners, identifying process improvements, and providing practical accounting recommendations. Collaborate with managers and partners on engagement planning, workflow management, and mentoring junior staff while ensuring deadlines and client expectations are consistently met. Qualifications: 3+ years of experience in a public accounting firm CPA or close to completion Strong communication skills
