Take a look at our website www.buildit.ca to know more about us. Role Description This is a full-time on-site role for an Accounting Manager, based out of our Mississauga office. The Accounting Manager will be responsible for supporting BUILD IT’s day-to-day accounting function, including full-cycle accounting, month-end close, financial reporting, project accounting, job costing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll support, compliance, and accounting records. This role plays an important part in supporting construction project profitability by maintaining accurate job cost records, reviewing Work-in-Progress reporting, supporting progress billing, monitoring project costs, and ensuring accounting processes are followed consistently. What We Offer: A work environment where safety is always the number one priority Monthly employee appreciation events A vibrant corporate culture Career development opportunities Exclusive employee discounts Access to family-friendly health and medical programs Who You Are: Possess a minimum of 5+ years of progressive accounting experience Possess CPA designation Have experience with full-cycle accounting, month-end close, reconciliations, financial reporting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger maintenance Have experience in construction, general contracting, project-based accounting, or a similar environment, considered a strong asset Are highly organized, detail-oriented, and deadline-driven Are comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with multiple competing priorities Communicate clearly and professionally with finance, operations, project teams, vendors, subcontractors, and external partners Have strong Excel, reporting, and accounting system skills Have experience with construction ERP, project accounting software, or job costing systems Are process-driven and able to identify opportunities to improve workflows and strengthen controls Key Responsibilities: Manage the full accounting cycle, including month-end close, journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and financial reporting. Prepare monthly financial statements, management reports, variance analysis, and other reporting for leadership. Maintain accurate general ledger records and ensure transactions are recorded correctly by entity, account, department, and project. Support project accounting, including job costing, cost coding, WIP reporting, progress billing, holdbacks, and project profitability tracking. Work closely with project managers and coordinators to review job cost reports, identify issues, and support timely corrections. Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, including invoice review, approvals, payment schedules, collections, and aging reports. Support cash flow visibility by tracking payables, receivables, project billings, holdbacks, and expected payment requirements. Support payroll, statutory remittances, HST, WSIB, EHT, source deductions, year-end files, audit requests, and compliance requirements. Maintain accurate accounting records and documentation for vendors, subcontractors, clients, employees, projects, insurance, and finance-related matters. Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, strengthen controls, reduce manual work, and improve reporting accuracy. Communicate professionally with internal and external stakeholders, including finance, operations, project teams, vendors, subcontractors, clients, auditors, and external advisors. Compensation Annual base salary of $90,000–$100,000 Position Status This posting is for a new headcount.
